The binocular slit-lamp examination provides stereoscopic magnified view of the eye structures in striking detail, enabling exact anatomical diagnoses to be made for a variety of eye conditions. Fluorescein staining before slit lamp examination may reveal corneal abrasions or herpes simplex infection.
